Beauty Review | Maybelline Fit Me Foundation Stick

My Queens! It’s been awhile since I brought you a review. My apologies loves. Don’t be too upset with me. Why? Because I’m working on a new venture which will have me bringing you more raves, reviews and fabulous make up looks. Can you say excited?! Anyway, ya’ll already know all about my make up struggle when it comes to foundations and concealers. The brown girls get no love. So when I come across a product that fits THIS brown queens chocolate complexion AND it works great…well you know I’m going to bring all that amazingness here!

Maybelline Fit Me Foundation Stick1

Today I’m raving all about Maybelline Fit Me Foundation Stick in 355 Coconut. The darkest of the shades, this foundation is everything to me! Here’s what the good folks at Maybelline say:

It’s one-step perfection.
The first of its kind – lightweight gel stick foundation with an anti-shine powder core:

  • Powder core instantly dissolves excess oil.
  • For flawless, shine-free skin and tailor-made natural matte coverage.
  • Easy to apply and great on-the go.
  • Available in 12 oil-free shades.

Maybelline Fit Me Foundation Stick in 355

This Brown Queens says:

It took me forever to find my shade, I almost gave up but I’m so glad I didn’t :D. I love this stuff. For oh so many reasons. Where shall I begin? First, I have interesting skin. It’s oily in some places, dry in others. I would never use a foundation that isn’t designed to work well for oily skin. Otherwise by the end of the day I end up looking crazy. Matte foundations make me a bit nervous because of some random dry patches, but as long as I use a good moisturizer I’m fine. So. That being said I was extremely excited for a matte foundation that had a powder core to dissolve oil. HELLO MY LOVE. And I was also extremely excited for a foundation that was so easy to apply and take along with me. I’m lazy queens. No for real. So any extra step I can exclude is a win for me. I find it lasts a full work day for me and I really don’t get oily throughout the day with this. It blends seamlessly and gives a matte finish I love.

I’ve been using this as my daily foundation for awhile now. I find that the coverage is medium at best for me. I’ve heard some people say it’s buildable but I wouldn’t know. I use a flat top powder brush to apply (that I spritz very lightly with MAC Fix+. It helps blend for me). I love the fact that it’s so lightweight. Perfect for everyday wear at the gig. Or early Saturday morning football games when your son doesn’t get that you’re taking a pic for the blog ;).

Mommy & Sdot and Maybelline of course

So have you tried this foundation? What do you think?

Peace, Love, & Blessings

Beauty Junkie | Concealer Crazed

Every beauty queen can agree that there is always that one product that alludes us. No matter how much of it we have, we want more! Maybe because we’re just that obsessed. Like say, my slightly unhealthy obsession with brow pencils…I can’t seem to get enough. But sometimes, it’s because we just haven’t found what we’re looking for. For THIS brown queen it’s concealer. Concealer has been the most difficult product for me to find a LOVE. I have my favorite signature lipstick. I have my go to foundation. I have my staple blush. But concealer? It’s always a guess. Every time I do my make up, I use a different one…or a combination of ones. So I thought I’d help my fellow beauty queens and go through my make up collection to bring you this quick list and of tried and tested concealers of THIS brown queen. Hopefully I can help a beauty out there who is going through my same struggles ;).

Crazy 4 Concealer

1. Maybelline Fit Me Concealer ~ One of the first concealers I purchased. I use the Fit Me foundation so it only made sense to purchase the concealer to go along with. The applicator is the sponge tip stick which allows for easy and controlled application. The consistency is very smooth and easy to blend. I use this under my eyes when I’m doing a full face. The darkest shade is a bit too light for me personally so it’s definitely not good for my brows and I wouldn’t wear this one daily.

2. CoverGirl Queen Collection  Concealer ~ The consistency and application reminds me of the Maybelline concealer. I can’t say I notice a real difference. What’s great about this one though is the range of shades is much broader. They have deeper tones for us brown girls so you can find a shade that works for you. I tend to use this mostly to clean up my brows and to cover and dark spots on my face. Especially in the summer when I forgo the foundation, I’ll dab this concealer and blend. Perfect.

3. Black Opal Concealer Stick ~ Currently my favorite concealer. Picked this up on a whim at CVS and wasn’t really expecting to like it. I don’t really like stick concealers. The color is the PERFECT match to brighten up under my eyes for daily use. I’m not keen on the smell though…smells a little “makeup-ey” but works great.

4. Elf Concealer Palette in Dark ~ Meh. I don’t like the coverage, consistency or application of this product. It just is a miss for me. Was only $3 I believe so…yeah…

5. BH Cosmetics 10 Color Concealer Palette ~ I purchased this for a freelance gig I had a while back. It’s very thick and creamy…a bit difficult to blend but the range of shades is great. I could mix shades to get a perfect match which I love. I don’t use this on myself personally, but I have used it on a few people and it does the job.

So that’s about half of my concealer collection in a nutshell. It’s an ever growing collection I’m sure. What concealer do you use? Let me know your favorites so I can try them out!

Peace, Love, & Blessings

Fabulous Saturday? My Favorite Look

So yes Queens, I know it’s supposed to be Fabulous Fridays but I was crazy busy yesterday and did not have the time to post. So for this week only it’s Fabulous Saturday and please don’t be too upset 😉

For this week I decided to show you my favorite look. I do this look most weekends when I’m out and about with the kids. It’s subtle but it’s buildable and  it’s a smokey eye which I absolutely love love love. This look gives me that “made up” look without doing too much. And it’s super duper easy! And ya’ll know I love easy! So here’s my favorite look. Two times for you because it’s just that awesome ;).

IMG_20130302_160312 IMG_20130309_133755

Before I list the products I used I wanted to focus quickly on the Wet N Wild color icon eyeshadow trio palettes. These little palettes are AMAZING. For Queens with little make up experience to pros these pallets are super pigmented and easy to use! And you can multitask and what Queen doesn’t like multitasking? 3 colors blended seamlessly in one pallet with easy instructions of which color goes where (which you don’t have to follow by the way). What more do you need?!? AND THEY ARE CHEAP. That is all.

Products I used:

*Face: Maybelline FIT Foundation, L’oreal True Match Pressed Powder, Wet N Wild Color Icon blush
*Eyes: Elf Eye Primer, Wet N Wild Color Icon eyeshadow trio (used all 3 colors exactly how instructed), Maybelline Define-A-Line eyeliner, Elf Lengthening & Volumizing mascara
*Lips: First pic Rimmel London Long Lasting Lipstick By Kate in Rosetto and I bet you can’t guess the second one….Maybelline Vivid Brazen Berry…you guys don’t know me at all lol!
