I feel like I haven’t done a favorites post in so long. Every time I try to get back on board…I fail *Kanye shrug*. But let us not dwell on the past and instead focus on how awesome is it that I’m doing a monthly favorites on the last day of the actual month! Do you know how major that is?! Of course, because it’s me, most (read all) of my favorites are beauty things. That’s just the kinda girl I am <3.
A large part of This Brown Queen is the support and empowerment of brown girls. Since starting the blog I’m so happy to have really been able to make some awesome connections and meet so many inspiring women both here in Philly, around the country, and online. Blogging perks at it’s finest. Most recently I’ve been able to connect with a fellow Philly girl who just achieved the esteem honor of being named the African American Chamber of Commerce Young Professional of the Year! Danielle is the CEO of Affairs of Isis and one of the hardest working girls I know! Check out the this awesome recap of the event honoring Ms. Jeter.
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, not following This Brown Queen or any other beauty blog, you’d know that orange lipstick is in right now. I’ll be honest, because I keep it real around these parts, when I first started seeing this trend I wasn’t here for it. I was all like “orange though? booo.” Because let’s face it. Orange isn’t exactly a standard color and I wasn’t sure how it would play out on this brown girl. So I did some digging and I’ve come up with a few different options of orange for the bold diva to the lowkey chic.
Lupita for the win! Again! Yes you read that correctly, my best friend Lupita Nyong’o is named People Magazine’s Most Beautiful Woman in the world. I mean obviously because Lupita, but seriously I could not be more excited and happy for her!
As a busy mommy, wife, and beauty lover, finding multipurpose items are my THING. Baby wipes doubling as makeup removers, body washes that can be used for shampoo, and foods that fit in my beauty regimen. Things that make me smile! I’m sure many of you can relate so I thought I put together a list and uses of 5 things you probably have in your kitchen RIGHT NOW that can be used to keep you looking fabulous…right in between cooking dinner ;).
Oh happy day! It goes without saying how I excited I was about the new Shea Moisture cosmetics line. A couple weeks ago I started to see the first sightings on Twitter and Instagram. The new Spring collection had hit some Target stores and instantly my evening was laid out for me. Go to (every) Target store and get some! Well it was nowhere be found :(. I had just about given up that it wasn’t coming to Philly when I saw on the Shea Moisture Pinterest that there was a #sheaspotting at my local Target!
This past weekend was the weather I’ve been waiting for! Saturday was so pretty out. Just lovely. I was super busy, as usual this weekend but most of the day Saturday I was out running errands. Perfect day for simple makeup and bright colors. Continue reading
Winter has officially lost it. You should have seen my face earlier this week when I saw the weather include SNOW in March. BYE. That’s all I have to say about it. I just want it to be warm outside soooo bad ya’ll. I just want to wear pastel colors, midi skirts, and no coat. That’s it. That’s it. This is what I would wear, if Spring was to you know, come…ever.
