Swimsuit_beach and bathing suits

Choosing the right bathing suit is always like mission impossible for me. I don’t do the bikini thing, y’all already know. So I’m forever searching for the perfect high waist or chic one piece. I’m headed to the beach in a couple weeks so obviously finding the right bathing suit is all I’ve been thinking about. Here are a few that have caught my eye and are exactly what I’m looking for.

This or That: Summer Beauty

Summer is sooo close I can feel it. Besides being excited for warm days and beach trips I’ve been LOVING changing up my makeup look. I’m always torn in the summer because on one hand I really don’t like to wear too much makeup when it’s hot but on the other I love summer makeup sooo…here we are. Summer makeup for this brown queen is bronzey, glowy, lightweight goodness. The best part is that I can achieve summer makeup looks with ease using both high end and drugstore makeup picks.

Style Me | Floral Shorts

This summer I have been obsessed with floral print. I don’t know why as I’ve never really liked it before. But,  this trend has really grown on me. Although the days are flying and I’m already seeing back to school ads (where has the time gone?), I took advantage of a few early summer sales and picked up a couple pairs of floral print shorts.  I can’t wait to rock them! The thing with floral print though is you have to be careful. The line between chic and not, is very thin. You DON’T want to end up looking like someone’s grandma (*waves* Hey Grandma Hey!). So in case you’re itching to wear some floral before the summer ends, but are not quite sure how to style them, here are a couple of cute, simple ways to rock floral shorts! Enjoy!

Beauty Beat | Summer Time Fine

I know, I know, I know. We all LOVE summer. I mean what’s not to love about long days, bbq’s, beach weather, and margaritas. If you say you don’t love it, you’re lying! It’s my second favorite season. But I’ll be honest, summer time is my least favorite as far as beauty is concerned. For an oily skinned queen like me, the summer simply means increasing the already daunting task, of making sure my face doesn’t cross the line of dewy glow to hot mess. It means finding makeup that is  flawless when I leave the house but doesn’t melt by the time I get to the office. It means finding a foundation that covers but doesn’t weigh me down right along with the hot weather. Finding a happy balance is essential to my summer beauty routine and I think I have it down. Check out my easy breezy picks to keep you summer time fine!

Summer Skin Care!

sun1

If you haven’t noticed…I’m here to let you know Summer has arrived and it is not playing! At all. While I know we are all excited to wear sundresses, bathing suits, booty shorts and whatever else, I must remind ya’ll to be safe! This means protecting your skin during these hot, sunny, summer days. Rest assured we can keep it cute and safe! Here’s how!

The easiest way to make sure you’re protecting your skin is to invest in some skincare products that contain SPF. SPF stands for Sun Protection Factor. You’ll notice many lotions, skin creams, bb creams, and foundations contain SPF. Which is great. But you need to be informed about what the numbers mean and what you need for your skin. Basically the numbers are based on a theoretical time frame of how long you would be able to be in the sun without causing damage to your skin. So a product containing SPF 20 would mean you’d be able to stay in the sun 20 times longer than you could have without protection. This is the most basic explanation of the number.

There are many factors that influence the effect of the sunscreen that you are using such as: family history, medical state, activities, etc, but for most people SPF 15 is sufficient. To get the most effective use of your sunscreen make sure to apply correctly and reapply frequently. Also, try to find products that protect against both UVB and UVA rays.

I’m currently using L’Oreal Sublime Sun Sheer Protectant Oil Spray SPF 30 for my body and Neutrogena Oil Free Moisturizer for Sensitive Skin SPF 35 for my face. DON’T FORGET THE BABIES! I use Coppertone Water Babies Sunscreen Lotion SPF 50 for all my kids.
