Happy Sunday beauties! It’s late but I’m finally débuting my newest makeup obsession. Last week I posted on Instagram about how the Mr. went creeping on my Nordstrom wish list and got me Rihanna’s Viva Glam 2 lipstick and lipglass. When I got the package at work…. *faints*. Yes it was that real. This lipstick is such a unique color I wasn’t sure how it’d look but just knew I wanted it. I mean the packaging alone is worth it!
Queens! I’ve seriously seriously missed you. Can you believe the insanity that is me not posting since August 1st?! I can’t. I could go into the long drawn out craziness that caused such a long absence but the short version is I got sick. Like really sick. Nothing too crazy but definitely a rough couple of weeks while I tried to get better. Which as a mother, when you’re sick it’s just like another day to them so my recovery was anything but quick and sweet. I’m so glad to finally be feeling like myself again and to be back here! Right in time for the changing seasons, trends, and my favorite time of the year!
Happy Friday. Happy August. Happy Day! Can you believe it’s August though seriously? Where is the time going?! Le sigh. So anyway, guess what? I finally got my hands on the new (well maybe not so new since it only took me forever and a day to find it) Maybelline Nudes Palette. I can’t even begin to tell you how excited I was when I first found out about this. A drugstore neutral palette?! Here for it. Yes ma’am.
I’ve always admired those moms. You know the ones who look absolutely fabulous from head to toe, carrying a toddler in one arm, pushing a stroller with the other, and balancing a designer bag on her shoulder. The Queen glam mommy for me has to be Kimora Lee Simmons. She’s always so flawless and with her children in tow. Just slaying all day err day.
One of the things I hear a lot from brown girls when it comes to makeup is, they don’t know how to use blush. From comments here to people stopping in me in the makeup isle to ask the same thing: Which blush should they wear? Another part of the brown girl struggle I suppose. And for good reason though. Blush is tricky! I struggle with it myself still sometimes and I have a product problem so you know it must be real.
Summer is sooo close I can feel it. Besides being excited for warm days and beach trips I’ve been LOVING changing up my makeup look. I’m always torn in the summer because on one hand I really don’t like to wear too much makeup when it’s hot but on the other I love summer makeup sooo…here we are. Summer makeup for this brown queen is bronzey, glowy, lightweight goodness. The best part is that I can achieve summer makeup looks with ease using both high end and drugstore makeup picks.
This post, this obsession has a been a long time coming. My loves who’ve followed me from the beginning already know how I feel about my beauty obsessions. I have my moments where I indulge but for the most part, this mommy has priorities so I make my decisions wisely…for the most part…sometimes. There’s always going to be the products that I splurge on no matter what and this…is one of them.
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, not following This Brown Queen or any other beauty blog, you’d know that orange lipstick is in right now. I’ll be honest, because I keep it real around these parts, when I first started seeing this trend I wasn’t here for it. I was all like “orange though? booo.” Because let’s face it. Orange isn’t exactly a standard color and I wasn’t sure how it would play out on this brown girl. So I did some digging and I’ve come up with a few different options of orange for the bold diva to the lowkey chic.
Oh happy day! It goes without saying how I excited I was about the new Shea Moisture cosmetics line. A couple weeks ago I started to see the first sightings on Twitter and Instagram. The new Spring collection had hit some Target stores and instantly my evening was laid out for me. Go to (every) Target store and get some! Well it was nowhere be found :(. I had just about given up that it wasn’t coming to Philly when I saw on the Shea Moisture Pinterest that there was a #sheaspotting at my local Target!
