I’ve always admired those moms. You know the ones who look absolutely fabulous from head to toe, carrying a toddler in one arm, pushing a stroller with the other, and balancing a designer bag on her shoulder. The Queen glam mommy for me has to be Kimora Lee Simmons. She’s always so flawless and with her children in tow. Just slaying all day err day.

This or That: Summer Beauty
Summer is sooo close I can feel it. Besides being excited for warm days and beach trips I’ve been LOVING changing up my makeup look. I’m always torn in the summer because on one hand I really don’t like to wear too much makeup when it’s hot but on the other I love summer makeup sooo…here we are. Summer makeup for this brown queen is bronzey, glowy, lightweight goodness. The best part is that I can achieve summer makeup looks with ease using both high end and drugstore makeup picks.

Brown Girl | Orange Lipstick
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, not following This Brown Queen or any other beauty blog, you’d know that orange lipstick is in right now. I’ll be honest, because I keep it real around these parts, when I first started seeing this trend I wasn’t here for it. I was all like “orange though? booo.” Because let’s face it. Orange isn’t exactly a standard color and I wasn’t sure how it would play out on this brown girl. So I did some digging and I’ve come up with a few different options of orange for the bold diva to the lowkey chic.
Beauty Chat | Revlon Colorburst Matte Balms
Hello loves! Today’s beauty post isn’t really a review so to speak but more just chit chat with my lovely queens. So what are we talking about? Lippies of course! Ya’ll know I love a good lip product! My day to day life has been pretty hectic and these days I find myself going bare skinned (sometimes BB cream) more often during the week. Be that as it may, one thing is still certain for THIS brown queen. And that is pretty much on any given day the bare minimum is brows, mascara, and lip product. If I don’t do ANYTHING else I do that! Which is why I’m writing about the amazing Revlon Colorburst Matte Balms.

Beauty Talk | January Favorites
Whew! Here we are one month in to 2014 and I’m already exhausted! All for good reason! Things have been pretty insane both in my personal and professional life. I didn’t exactly post as often as I was hoping in January, BUT the great news is I surpassed my blog goal! And it’s all thanks to you guys! Natural Glow | Black Radiance BB + Revlon PhotoReady Skinlights
Life is a catch 22 ya know? In the summer we’re all here for the matte face. I was trying out matte foundations, mattifying primers, and anything else to get that chic matte finish. Now that winter is here in all it’s cold winter glory, I want nothing but that natural summer glow. *Le sigh* Pretty girl problems I suppose. But not really. Why? Because I have mastered the PERFECT natural glowy face. AND it’s super easy. Ya’ll know I wouldn’t lie. Not about something as serious as makeup. This is a new routine for me, like really new, as in 2014 new using two brand new products. But I love it so much I couldn’t keep all this greatness to myself so let’s get into it!
Fabulous Friday | Autumn Dreaming
Happy Friday Queens! I’m so excited about today’s Fab Friday post! If you follow me on Twitter or Instagram you’ll see I posted this new lip last weekend. I got inspired while surfing YouTube and decided to do a full beat. Le sigh, it’s been so long since I did a full face. I almost forgot how good it feels! I contoured (I never contour) and even broke out some lashes (I hate lashes) so you know it was real. Keeping on trend for fall and This Brown Queen, I decided to go with purple lips. I mean I DID say I was going to be the Queen of Purple this fall ;). I also decided to feature my new Maybelline Limited Edition Eyeshadow Quad in Autumn Dream.
A little more detailed than I usually do but I want my Queens to know how to do this look!
FACE
1. Moisturize
2. Revlon Nearly Naked Foundation in Cappuccino
3. Concealer: Maybelline Fit Me in 30 for under eye
4. Set with L’Oreal True Match Pressed Powder in Nut Brown
5. Lightly brush all over face with dark brown in the Elf Turks & Caicos Contouring Blush & Bronzing Powder
6. Wet N Wild Berry Shimmer Blush on apples
7. Used the darkest brown in my Elf Concealer Palette in Dark to contour
EYES
1. Prime with Elf Eyeshadow Primer
2. Apply NYX Concealer in a Jar in Tan all over lid
3. Using the Maybelline Autumn Dream quad apply the purple shade all over lid
4. Apply the green color in outer V and crease
5. Use a neutral color to transition. For me a use a warm brown from a BH Cosmetics palette
6. Milani Brow Kit in Medium Hi-Lite color to highlight
7. Using the dark blue, smudge along lower lash line 3/4 of the way
8. Use the bright color in tear duct and the remaining 1/4 lower lash line
LIPS
1. Prime with a lip primer. I use my same Elf Eye Primer.
2. Line and fill in with NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Purple Velvet.
3. Lightly blot Maybelline ColorSensational Lipstick in Midnight Plum on top

Fabulous Fridays | Bright Eyes & Dark Lips
My loves! I’ve missed you so! I can’t believe it’s been over a week since my last post. Ya’ll have no idea how that makes me feel. Disconnected that’s how and I hate it! Please excuse my absence. My boys started football last week and now I’m trying get my entire life together because NO ONE told me how hard it was going to be with 2 hour practices EVERY DAY for preseason. WHEW! THIS brown queen is beat! But that’s no excuse Queens so here I am! WITH a new blogging schedule that you will see next week so make sure you stop by!
So…How long has it been since I’ve done a Fabulous Friday post? TOO long obviously since I have to ask. Which quite honestly makes me sad because if it’s one thing I stress here is that, as the Queens we are, we MUST take time and focus on ourselves as well. It’s easy to get caught up in your career, your family, Life. There’s always that project that needs to be done, or that practice to attend. Trust me, I know. But as the age old saying goes…if the mama ain’t happy…well ya’ll know the rest. Regardless of what it is that makes you feel great make sure you carve out time to do that! And do it OFTEN!
